  • Nice handling, suspension, annoying soun - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara

Compared to its nearest competitor (Sebring Limited) this convertible is worth the extra cash. 200hp engine provides powerful and smooth acceleration, handling is great, and it glides comfortably over rough road. Biggest complaint: you better like bass because the stereo will pound it out and you cant turn it down. Its very uncomfortable to me to listen to the radio, it gives me headaches. At low volumes all you can hear are low frequency pounding vibrations. As much as I like the car I wont be able to keep it.

I traded my 01 Honda Accord for my 03 Solara. Love my Solara! Have been getting excellent gas mileage. 30-32 mpg. Drivers seat is very comforable and engine is very smooth and quiet.

  • Good for daily driver, but not a racecar - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara
    By -

Bought this car used last year, and Ive been driving it daily. Quite reliable, especially because the engine has been used by Toyota for quite some years. However, since the engine is old technology, there are much more powerful engines and transmissions out there. Gas mileage is not good enough, compared to the new V6s out there. Automatic transmission is not responsive enough, loses power starting second gear. Interior is very comfortable though. Cannot find another car this soft and comfy except maybe American cars. Sound system is only better than average. Ride is floaty at high speed, suspension is comfortable but too soft for spirited driving. User features are limited.

  • Not What I Expected - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara

I have owned two Toyotas before this a 94 Camry and a 98 Avalon. This car was not built to the same standards. It was in the shop for six days in the first two months.

  • great car - 2003 Toyota Camry Solara

This car is a blast. You cannot believe how much car for the money. Only complaint-lotsa problems with the stereo. It was recalled for too much base. They replaced the radio twice- still sounded bad. Now they disconnected the subwoofer and it is tinny and not good. The dealership has been wonderful but they dont know what else to do. Also the hood paint chips easily and the interior noise is I guess somewhat typical of a convertible. The car has a rear blindspot too. If anyone has a solution for the stereo problem please post!! Or email me at Rbroesle@esboces.org
